Bill Townsend is a seasoned energy markets professional and entrepreneur with a career spanning data analytics, business development, and strategic consulting. A native of New Jersey, he has dedicated most of his career to building and selling data and analytics solutions to wholesale power and natural gas traders. Beyond his corporate experience with FT, SPGlobal and Genscape, Bill is a serial entrepreneur, having founded multiple businesses centered on energy market intelligence and consulting including FriedWire, Ansergy and Live Power. His ability to develop innovative solutions has established him as a leader in leveraging proprietary data streams and the latest analytical approaches in trading. Bill holds degrees in Economics and International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He resides in Boulder, Colorado, with his wife, Dawn, and their two children, Cody and Sierra. When not obsessing about energy markets he enjoys hiking, mountain biking, skiing, gardening, and beekeeping.
