Vice President of Energy Strategies

Ben Walker is Vice President of Energy Strategies at Environ. Since starting at Environ a decade ago, he’s advanced the organization’s energy market analytics, giving tools and insights to professionals from finance, facilities, and sustainability in their energy procurement and compliance efforts. He develops customized procurement strategies to balance competing priorities from various internal and external stakeholders. Ben focuses on the twin concepts of risk and value to help organizations make sound financial decisions, whether those decisions cover long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Community Solar, On-site Generation, or Energy Hedging Programs.

Ben specializes in analyzing deep problems, such as statistical probability modeling of market risk, impact of regulatory developments, investment analysis for solar and other renewable product designs, and energy market fundamental analysis. Prior to working at Environ, he was published in the diverse fields of neuroscience, energy efficiency of IT equipment, and baseball history. In 2021, he authored the Best Practices in Healthcare for Financing Energy Sustainability.

Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Seattle Pacific University and a master’s degree in Energy & Sustainability from Northwestern University. In his free time, he can often be found playing Ultimate or Disc Golf.
